REdesign: The Balmoral Clubhouse

If you have never heard of The Bamloral, you would miss the elusive gated community in the heart of New Providence.  But the fast-growing property is one that has kept a steady buzz in both local and international real estate ears since it broke ground in 2009.

Set atop one of the highest elevations in the capital, the 43-acre spread and attempts to mesh modern day living with the vintage charm of its focal point – a 1934 mansion built by Sir Oliver Simmond, High Tor.

The High Tor mansion - tor meaning land in Gaelic – has been exquisitely redesigned into the property’s clubhouse and focal point. It’s a project that Michael Diggiss & Associates (MDA) have embraced understanding the historical and commercial appeal of the nearly century old structure.

In an exclusive partnership with Brown & Associated and CSB Consultants Limited, MDA embarked on redefining the clubhouse and revitalize the structure in order for the community’s Member’s Only Club to be afforded high end services and amenities to its clients.

At an estimated cost of $1.5 million, special features of the project include an expansion of the dining area on the first floor of the structure as well as construction to the deck located on the second floor. The clubhouse will keep its traditional elegant appeal with repairs done to the exterior of the building.

It will have its long and seemingly endless windows on the second floor replaced to incorporate an expanded dining room via the northern patio.

Construction on the project began on July 16th 2012 with finishing beginning in November 2012. The project was completed in May 2013.  Adler Construction was the official contract of on the project. Veritas Bahamas Limited served as the quantity surveyors for redesign of the clubhouse.

Once the property is completed, the Balmoral Club will provide the following services to its members:

· The Mark Knowles Tennis Centre, which includes,  tennis courts, café and pro shop

· Spacious members lounge with covered terraces

· Café Balmoral and Bar

· Swimming pool (original)

· Meeting rooms
